Contracting Office

The Arizona Health Sciences Center Contracting Office, under the direction of Judy McElroy, acts as a liaison for the UA Colleges of Medicine, Nursing and Pharmacy and the UA Mel and Enid Zuckerman College of Public Health in developing contracts with outside agencies that are necessary to carry out the teaching and public service programs of the colleges. These include educational agreements, such as affiliations for UA and visiting students/residents, site preceptor and preceptor agreements, educational fellowships and specialized training agreements, and non-clinical, services-related contracts for programs and campuses, such as the Arizona Telemedicine Program, the UA/UPH Residency Consortium and the College of Medicine – Phoenix. The AHSC Contracts Office works closely with numerous UA offices as applicable and is available to provide advice and guidance when programs begin exploring educational and service relationships with other entities. The Office of the General Counsel (OGC) provides legal advice to The University of Arizona, including the Arizona Health Sciences Center, on a broad array of legal issues. Judith Leonard serves as vice president for legal affairs and general counsel and is assisted by nine University attorneys. Human Resources at the Arizona Health Sciences Center is a satellite office of The University of Arizona Division of Human Resources, which is dedicated to the mission, vision and values of The University of Arizona. The office, under the direction of Catherine Nicholson, SPHR, offers a full range of professional human resources (HR) services and activities to administrators, managers, faculty and staff of the Colleges of Medicine, Nursing and Pharmacy and the UA Mel and Enid Zuckerman College of Public Health. In coordination with Main Campus HR colleagues, HR@AHSC provides assistance that focuses on benefits, compensation, employee relations, organizational and performance consulting, professional development, orientation and on-boarding and recruitment and screening strategies in order to increase organizational capacity and individual and unit efficiency and effectiveness. The Office of Public Affairs (OPA) at the Arizona Health Sciences Center provides communications support, media relations and community relations for The University of Arizona Colleges of Medicine (Tucson and Phoenix campuses), Nursing and Pharmacy; the UA Mel and Enid Zuckerman College of Public Health; and University Medical Center. The Office of Public Affairs' mission is to share AHSC information, expertise and resources throughout the state; increase awareness and understanding of AHSC health and education programs and services; and support AHSC education/service/ outreach, development, alumni and research activities. OPA staff members facilitate print and broadcast stories, produce publications for internal and external audiences and manage outreach activities, such as the AHSC Speakers Bureau, MEDCAMP and tours for a wide variety of visitors.
