Renal Grand Rounds
Time: Monday, 4:15-5:15 pm
Place: UMC room 6407
Mediator: Dr. Sam James
Content: One selected case will be presented by medical student, resident, or renal fellow. Diagnosis and management will be discussed by all attendants. A brief review and take home message will be given.
 

Renal Journal Clubs
Time: Wednesday 4:15-5:15 pm
Place: UMC room 6331
Content: Review and critique a current article related to basic or clinical nephrology or transplantation. All attendants will participate in the discussion and critiques of the article. A take home message will be given at the end. Faculty may choose to present his/her own research results or publications instead of reviewing others' publication.

Renal Pathology Conference:
Time: : First Tuesday of the month, 11:00-12:00 N
Place: UMC room 5420
Mediator: Dr. Raymond Nagle, Professor of Pathology, and Dr. Katty Scott, Assistant Professor of Pathology.
Content: Clinical data of 3-5 cases who had renal biopsy performed in previous month will be presented. Dr. Nagle and Dr. Scott will present the results of renal biopsy including light microscopy, immunofluorescence and electron microscopy. The clinical follow-up will be given by attendings or fellows who follow the patient. A brief review of pathological findings of any interesting or rare renal diseases will be given by Dr. Nagle and Dr. Scott and clinical-pathological correlation and management will be discussed by Nephrology faculty.
 

Renal Radiology Conference:
Time: Quarterly
Place: UMC room 6120
Mediator: Dr. David Whittman, Assistant Professor of Clinical Medicine.
Content: Clinical data on selected patients who underwent image studies of the kidney, renal vessels, or dialysis access will be presented briefly. Results of image studies available for this case including ultrasound, CT scan, MRI and renal scan will be presented. The clinical follow-up will be given by attendings or fellows who follow the patients. A brief review of image findings of any interesting or rare renal diseases, indication and contraindication for specific tests, and test of choice for specific clinical conditions and clinical management will be discussed by Nephrology faculty.

Place:
Mediator: Dr. Samuel James, Associate Professor of Medicine and Medical Director of Kidney Transplantation Program, UMC.
Content: Transplant recipient selection and follow-up. Selected topics in transplant nephrology will be reviewed.
 

Renal Physiolgy/Pathophysiology Series:
Time: First Monday and third Wednesday, 4:15-5:15 pm
Place: UMC Rm 640 7 (Monday) or 6339 (Wednesday)
Content: Renal Physiology will be reviewed by Dr. Ulrich Michael on Monday. Renal Pathophysiology will be reviewed by other faculty of the Section of Nephrology on Wednesday.
