'PodCats': Roubideaux and U.S. American Indian Health Affairs

Yvette Roubideaux,  a UA assistant professor of family and community medicine, has been sworn in as the U.S. Indian Health Service director. Roubideaux, also a member of the Rosebud Sioux tribe, talks about her new position, goals for her tenure and some of the health issues affecting American Indians and Alaska Natives.

Regarding Dr. Roubideaux's appointment as director of the Indian Health Service, U.S. Rep. Raul Grijalva, D-Ariz., said, "This community's loss is the nation's gain in many ways...We're looking forward to how Dr. Roubideaux will change the conversation, and I think it will be changed."  Grijalva said he fully expects that under Dr. Roubideaux's leadership "the Indian Health Service will be raised to the status its constituents deserve."
